The first half-day builds the case: commercial assumptions, capital expenditure plan, funding plan, forecast. The second puts it to the test. What has been built is read back against the analyst's grid, in the order in which he opens the file, and it turns out that figures that are correct one by one do not hold each other up. That second reading is what takes time, and it is what a single half-day format forces you to sacrifice.
The workshop is not for someone who must lodge a file in the coming days: at that stage what is missing is no longer method but a fresh look at the existing document, and that belongs to the review or the full package. It is for people who will produce several files — the founder who will have others, the finance manager, the advisory firm that builds for its clients. The review grid is made to be reused as it stands on files we will never see.
