A closed list, not a general principle

Auto-entrepreneur status does not open to every independent activity: it opens to activities entered on the list drawn up by the agency. An activity absent from that list is not prohibited — it simply falls under another framework, sole proprietorship or company, with the corresponding obligations.

The list holds 1,491 activities across eight fields, from consulting to cultural services by way of digital services and micro-importing. Search it above by word or by number.

What the status actually changes

The appeal of the status does not rest on the tax rate alone, even though 0.5% of turnover is markedly lighter than 12% for a service provider. It rests above all on simplicity: online registration, a simplified return, a dedicated social flat rate, and no accounting in the SCF sense.

In exchange, the turnover ceiling closes the status above a certain volume, and the card does not allow everything a commercial register allows — particularly with certain public purchasers.

Cross-checking the two nomenclatures

The ANAE list and the CNRC nomenclature do not overlap: an activity may appear on the commercial register without being open to the auto-entrepreneur, and the reverse holds too. Before choosing, it is worth checking both — which is why the two databases are published side by side here.

Once the activity is identified, the IFU calculator gives the order of magnitude of the annual tax, and the CASNOS calculator that of the social contribution.
