Two subjects, because in practice they are inseparable: the procedure, where an error of sequence blocks an entire shipment; and the landed cost, where six financial items that are rarely anticipated turn an expected margin into a loss.
The workshop cites the instruction and the note in force with their references, so participants can verify them for themselves.
The full day comes from the way the two parts answer each other. The items that make up the landed cost do not come out of a calculation grid: they come out of the documentary chain — what is domiciled, what waits, what has to be settled before the goods move. Handling the calculation without the procedure produces a table that is tidy and wrong. It is also why both functions have an interest in being in the same room: in many companies, the person negotiating the purchase price and the person building the file at the bank only speak once the price has been fixed.
What you take away is the landed cost workbook, empty of your figures and filled with the case worked through. Its usefulness comes later, when you pick it up again on a real quotation: the price on the supplier's invoice becomes one line among others, and that is usually the moment a negotiation reopens. The workshop also takes no step on your behalf with a bank or the administration.
